BPRD Campaign Rules

Postby DarkestThicket » Wed Aug 20, 2008 10:03 am

So contrary to my laziness regarding WWZ I do like being prepared for things. It's 5 months in advance but here's the revised rules for BPRD. There's also a link to a Word document version if you'd like to download it and have a copy to email to yourself if your workplace doesn't allow this message board (I'm surprised mine hasn't, it does mess up my posting as this is the second time I've had to type this crap out. Gonna have to copy and paste to make sure it doesn't do this again). If you have any questions feel free to PM me and I'll add them to the FAQ.

BPRD Campaign

Experience points (XP) regulate stats/clicks
Build points (BP) regulates powers

Building a character
1.) Choose a race
2.) Choose an class
3.) Using 10 BP purchase powers for your character. (Purchasing powers on your top click costs double, minions do not suffer from this additional cost)
4.) Human characters get 6 XP to spend on stats, Inhumans get 4 XP. This does not count towards total XP for purposes of levelling up.
5.) The only class that starts with a minion is the Controller.

Race:

Human:
Human caps: 8/10/16/3 8/3

5/8/15/2, 5/8/15/2, 5/7/15/2, 4/7/15/1, 4/7/14/1 4/1

Benefits: Purchases stats cheaper. Can choose any job.

Vampire:
Inhuman caps: 10/11/15/4 4/1

Starts on second click which is considered to be their top click.
BPRD has given you authorization to turn one minion (costs 10 xp, minions start with 3 clicks of life {your last three at the beginning of the campaign}), additional clicks are assigned when you earn a click of life, you assign it either to yourself or your minion. Minions and their controller share bp/xp pool. If you are knocked out during a scenario your minion takes 2 unpreventable damage and gets two action tokens at the start of your next turn.

When purchasing stats Vampires must spend an additional XP to do so.

Optional Power (Change): Costs 10 xp to purchase, choose one of the following: Bat, Wolf, Mist.
You now have another separate dial with the same number of clicks as on your vampire dial. Each click you want change on costs 1 BP and change is added to both dials for the 1 BP cost (if you choose). Whichever type of change you take one power already purchased for it (on all clicks, can not replace it) with options for others as well as ability score modifiers.

Change: At the beginning of the turn you may replace your vampire character with your changed character (and vice versa) this change gives you an action token but this monster may still be given actions this turn if able.
Bat: Phantom on all clicks and gains flight, damage -2 (minimum 0), attack -2, Movement +2
Wolf: Acceleration on all clicks and can purchase Leap/Climb, Movement +1, Attack -1, Defense -1, Damage +1
Mist: Ghost on all clicks, Movement +1, Attack -2, Hourglass Defense, Damage -1

6/9/15/2, 5/8/14/2, 5/8/14/2, 5/8/14/2, 4/7/14/2, 4/7/13/1
Range: 0, Attacks: 1

Exclusive Powers: Feast, Martial Artist
Primary Powers: Pain, Accuracy
Minion Power Pool: Choose two of your primary or exclusive powers to become available to purchase for your minion.

Can not become a Controller or a Magician

Werewolf:
Werewolf caps: 10/11/16/4 4/1

BPRD has given you authorization to turn one minion (costs 10 xp, minions start with 3 clicks of life {your last three clicks at the start of the campaign}), additional clicks are assigned when you earn a click of life, you assign it either to yourself or your minion. Minions and controllers share bp/xp pool. If you are knocked out during a scenario your minion takes two unpreventable damage and gets two tokens at the start of your next turn.

Must have one power (below) on every click that reduces stats on side A of the card. The power on side B is: "Battle Fury: This monster may not make ranged attacks and can not be possessed."
Stat reduction powers: Emaciated (Move -1, AV -1, damage -1), Corpulent (AV -2, move -1), Impetuous (DV -3).

Change can be purchased for 1 BP per click and at the time it is purchased you may choose to add it to both sides of your card for the 1 BP cost. If you do not you may purchase powers for that slot on the werewolf/human side for regular cost.
When a werewolf is on their human side they may use BPRD equipment, when they are on their wolf side they can not.
When purchasing stats Werewolves must spend an additional XP to do so.

Optional power Change/Reversion: At the beginning of the turn you may choose to flip this card, this change gives you an action token but this monster may still be given actions this turn if able.

5/8/15/2, 5/8/15/2, 5/7/15/2, 4/7/15/2, 4/7/15/1, 4/7/14/1
Range: 0, Attacks: 1

Exclusive Powers: Slash (W), Leap/Climb
Primary Powers: Stamina, Spree(W)
Minion Power Pool: Choose two of your primary or exclusive powers to become available to purchase for your minion, they also get a Stat reduction/Battle Fury combo.

Can not become a Controller or a Psychic/Mentalist.

Beast:
Beast caps: 10/12/14/3 0/1

6/8/13/2, 5/8/13/2, 5/8/12/2, 5/8/12/1, 5/7/11/1, 5/7/11/1 0/1

Exclusive powers: Slash, Acceleration
Primary powers: Dodge, Hunter

Beasts can purchase one click of Martial Artist as though it were a primary or exclusive power.

When purchasing stats beasts must spend an additional XP to do so.

Beasts can not be Marksmen, or Magicians. If they are controllers their minions are part of their pack so it would be best to use similar figures. Beast are anything really, one member will be a semi intelligent raptor, maybe you're a fish man like Abe, maybe you're some other mutant like character. If it doesn't really fit in one of the other categories you're probably a beast.

Half Demon:
Half Demon caps: 8/10/15/3 6/2

5/9/14/2, 5/8/14/2, 5/8/14/1, 5/7/14/2, 4/7/14/2 Range: 4/1

Exclusive powers: Savagery, Firestorm
Primary powers: Focus, Stamina

Half demons can purchase one click of Invulnerable as though it were a primary or exclusive power.

When purchasing stats half demons must spend an additional XP to do so.

Half Demon's can not be Psychic/Mentalists or Marksmen

Classes:

Non humans, when they choose their class, must choose one exclusive power and one primary power that will not get the cost bonus when purchasing powers. For instance a Vampire chooses to become a Marksman to become Selene from Underworld. Selene must now choose two powers, she chooses Flurry(ranged) and Stamina. She can still purchase these powers however she pays 6 points for flurry and 4 points per stamina as though they were not on her exclusive/primary list. Humans get the discount on all powers.

Marksman (Ranged combat)
Increase your range (current and maximum) by +2

Exclusive Powers: Snap Shot, Flurry (Ranged), Deadshot
Primary Powers: Accuracy, Retributive Strike (Ranged), Stamina

Swordsman (Melee combat)
Choose either:
a.) +1 to your attack value on one of your first two clicks or
b.) +1 to two attack values on your clicks after your second.

Exclusive Powers: Bloodlust, Savagery, Flurry (Melee)
Primary Powers: Ferocity, Retributive Strike (Melee), Stamina

Magician (Magic type powers Humanoid form only)

Increase your range (current and maximum) by +2

Exculsive Powers: Charmed, Impale, Firestorm
Primary Powers: Area, Accuracy, Retributive Strike (either, choose one)

Psychic/Mentalist (Ghostly/Possession)
Choose either:
a.) +1 to your movement value on one of your first two clicks or
b.) +1 to two movement values on your clicks after your second.

Exclusive Powers: Ghost, Possession, Mind Control
Primary Powers: Focus, Invisible, Hold This

Controller (Zombie master/Golem maker/elemental summoner/Robotics expert)

You do not get to use the last click on your races dial. For instance, Humans only get 4 clicks of life instead of 5. You also have an additional Combat stat called Minion range which is 6 to start. Your regular range levels up independantly of Minion Range. In addition Minion Range has a maximum of 10.

The controllers minion starts with 3 clicks of life (the same as your first three) and has the same range value as you start with. The minion and Controller share their power/xp pool.

You can create a number of minions equal to half your total clicks of life. Each minion you create (with the exception of the first) is done at the expense of a click of life earned. Minions other than your first begin with one click of life (your base first click) but can have additional clicks of life purchased for BP equal to the click number (Click 2 costs 2 BP, Click 3 costs 3 BP). Each click added to a minion is the click everyone gets when a click of life is added. Minions can only be given actions if they are within your Minion range. If the controller is KO'd all minions become blocking terrain that can be carried as per giant rules.

Exclusive Powers: Inspiring Command, Boss (Defend), Stealth
Primary Powers: Leadership, Protector, Boss (Attack)
Minion Power Pool: Choose two non exclusive powers from the powers list, you may choose Stealth as well, additional powers are added to the Power Pool for 2 BP.

Power Costs

Purchasing a power for your top click (2nd click for Vampires) adds 100% to the cost of the power (minions do not suffer the 100% additional cost). Any power in bold is only purchaseable by archetypes that have it listed as an exclusive power. If you wish to downgrade there is a 1 point service fee to do so.

If you purchase multiple defensive (mitigation/aversion/counter attack) powers for the same click (IE dodge and Martial artist on the same click or invuln and dodge, Ret strike and phantom/focus) this adds another 100% cost to the power for each .

Example 1: You are a vampire and you want Dodge and Martial Artist on your third click.
Dodge: 2 points + 2 points for a second defensive power (4)
Martial Artist: 3 points + 3 points for two defensive powers (6)
Total cost: 10 points

Example 2: You are a vampire and you want Dodge and Martial Artist on your top click
Dodge: 2 points + 2 points for top click + 2 points for a second defensive power (6)
Martial Artist: (3 points + 3 points for top click + 3 points for a second defensive power (9)
Total cost: 15 points

Example 3: Vampire dodge martial artist focus top click
Dodge: 2 + 2 (top) + 4 (2 additional defensive powers) (8 )
Martial Aritst: 3+ 3(top) + 6 (2 additional defensive powers) (12)
Focus: 4 + 4 (top) + 8 (2adp) (16)
Total cost: 36 points.

Low Cost (2 points each; 1 point each for Primary or Exclusive )

Acceleration - Dependant <boot>
When frenzying, modify this monster's speed value by +3.

Agony - Dependant <cleaver>
This monster gets +1 to its damage value for each action token on the target.
